Коварная болезнь легких убивает людей чаще рака.Почему о ней так мало знают и кто находится в группе риска?16 ноября 2022
As the longest-living vertebrate on Earth, the Greenland shark's age remained a mystery until recent scientific advances. In 2008, Danish physicist Jan Heinemeier developed a method to analyze carbon-14 in eye lens crystallines. This radioactive isotope fluctuates annually, with notable surges during the nuclear testing era of the 1960s, each epoch leaving a distinct carbon-14 mark. By examining these proteins, researchers estimated birth dates: among 28 specimens, the largest, a 16-foot female, was dated between 272 and 512 years old. Since size correlates with age, and records show sharks up to 24 feet, individuals approaching six centuries may still inhabit the seas.
